Promoting the best and brightest of the cinematic experience, as I have seen it. I have been through Movie Hell! Did I get burned? No, girl; Kerosene set off a blaze up in there! Don't start none, won't be none! This girl is on fire!

"Pariah"
One of the most compelling and realistic films in recent years...an
absolute revelation. Feels more like a documentary, with Rees' deft
words and Young's stark shots.
Tremendous acting by a brilliant ensemble, including Kim Wayans,
Adepero Oduye, Charles Parnell, and Aasha Davis.

"Extremities"
"Extremities" was one of those surprisingly good 'comeback' movies from
the 1980s-- think Cher, Goldie Hawn-- blowing people away with Farrah
Fawcett's acting and the intensity of the storyline.
It also is a rarer film in that most of the action is limited to one locale
and one specific time frame (also due to a recurring theme of the time;
adaptations from great plays being made into movies with less revision
than you're likely to see these days.)
A superb cast and a halting storyline that doesn't miss a beat, this movie
shows modern filmmakers how to compel an audience with direction,
dialogue, acting, and psychological intrigue. Also starring James Russo
and Alfre Woodard.

"The Administration"
Here's the trailer for the short film, "The Administration" that was
100% locally-produced in Donalsonville, Georgia.
The detective trussed up in the warehouse is yours truly.
It turned out pretty good; John is a very talented guy,
and we all enjoyed doing our part!

"Revolution" Trailer
One of the more interesting (and widely discussed) new show of the
upcoming fall season is "Revolution." In part because of the creative
fire power behind it (movie director Jon Favreau and super-producer
JJ Abrams, for starters,) it has garnered a lot of attention.
For me, the content is key, and the forces behind it mean that I have a
fair amount of trust that it will be done well. Post-apocalyptic, desolate
world recovery, mankind fighting for survival; these are all difficult themes
to pull off. The fact that the specifics of this catastrophe are a great social
commentary sounds like a great starting point.
I previously was a bit cold to Jeremiah, but I absolutely loved Jericho,
the original V, the original Planet of the Apes movies, and similar
dystopian movies. Even the poorly received "The Happening" movie
was interesting to me because of the human drama and mystery. It's all
in the execution, I suppose.
This seems a popular theme now, delving into the drama of how people will
adjust once society breaks apart, more so than in the past for obvious reasons.
Personally, I don't see much hope of all this camaraderie and brotherhood,
but it does make for interesting TV and movies!

Peggy Sue Got Married
"Peggy Sue Got Married" is one of the great--yet underrated--films of the 1980s,
featuring a remarkably well-done spin on the time travel genre. In this 'chick-flick'
version of the classic "What If?" conundrum, Kathleen Turner stuns in a moving
performance as she effortlessly shifts back and forth between drama and humor.
It says a lot about this film's greatness that it made me find even Nick Cage
bearable. An otherwise incredible cast, this journey to the heart of a person's
past and psyche explores discovering what we want and what we're willing
to live without.
A new spin on mid-life crisis, Peggy Sue got the chance to truly change things,
including her perspective. Good fun and adventure. If you've ever toyed with
the idea of what makes you You, or questioned what it would take to start over,
you'll appreciate the search for identity in this flick!

Long Kiss Goodnight
Loved this movie on many levels, and was very disappointed to read
that it was believed the story was stolen from a favorite comic of mine
("Somerset Holmes",) but I guess that explains why it's so good.
Geena is brilliant, and it's a very different role for her (which she makes her
own!) Love Samuel L. Jackson, and though he is loud (of course,) this is
a different bit for him, too; comic relief and an insecure man!
(And I am so in love with sexy Craig Bierko--man he's good. But the whole
cast is perfect, really.)
Great plot, great mystery, superb action-adventure on a par with 'Die Hard,'
and what's really scary is how the plot parallels so intricately our 2001
terrorist attacks (though the film preceded them by several years!!)
So, in another words, a great film for conspiracy theorists and folks
who don't trust the government.
Flying in the face of 'women are the victim or arm candy' Hollywood, this
movie was one of the earliest to serve up a believable female protagonist in
an action adventure role. (Even if it did also borrow bits of 'La Femme Nikita,'
another beautiful work! --The Anne Parillaud one...Bridget Fonda really didn't
hack it.)
