"My Summer of Captivity"

Well, "Hannibal" is over for its season, and I haven't checked out NBC's
"Crossing Lines" just yet (great cast, but it all depends on execution--some
of that dialogue in the trailer sounded Ultra-Hokey!)

So, the best thing I've seen evidence of so far is last night's debut of
"Under the Dome," based on the Stephen King novel and executive
produced by Steven Spielberg and Brian K. Vaughan (with Neal Baer.)
It's a formidable team of talented vets who do what they do very well,
added to a great cast (I LOVE Aisha Hinds!) and a very intriguing concept!

I love sci-fi, I love mystery and suspense, and I am a huge
fan of character interaction and large cast ensembles...when done
well! Last night's premiers (of the 13 episode 'mini') was a delightful
little aperitif to whet the appetite!

Dissension amongst townsfolk, secrets and lies bubbling to the surface,
displaced lesbian couples, seizures of unknown origin, hot men, psychopaths,
a dozen deaths (and one murder!) and more sexual and violent tension than
you can shake a stick at!

If you were a fan of "Lost" or "Jericho," or a Stephen King fan...
if you enjoy "Revolution" or "The Killing"....
if you like shows that have diversity and characterization....
you'll probably enjoy "Under the Dome."
I'm looking forward to my new summer addiction!

The New Affirmative Action

Eddie Cibrian previously had a talent for being known for several
things in Hollywood; being a scoundrel, looking good in a towel, and
starring in a lot of 'B' movies and television.

Now it seems he's found a new niche; "The only white guy in a movie
otherwise dominated by black folks."

Eddie has been the token color in several all-black-cast movies of
late, most recently in Tyler Perry's "Good Deeds."

Eddie's all right (onscreen, at least!) and the only complaint I have
is that this new trend seems to be cutting down on his 'nearly-nekkid'
screen time!

"Political Animals"

I am Love-Love-LOVING
the new Sunday night Limited Series Event on
the USA Network, "Political Animals."

It boasts a sickeningly superb cast,
headlining Sigourney Weaver, Ellen Burstyn,
Ciaran Hinds, Carla Gugino, and more.
There's also an obnoxiously high 'Hot Man'
ratio (all brilliant actors, as well, I might add)
including Adrian Pasdar, Roger Bart,
Sebastian Stan,  Dan Futterman,
and the oh-so-dreamy
James Wolk.

It's got the drama/soap opera bit down,
the political snip-fest (a la West Wing)
down, there are some funny parts, and it is
a Very robustly raucous, rude, risque, over-the-top
show filled with sensationalism and brass tax.
(Did I mention how much I love it!?)

Enjoy the avalanche of 'similarities' between the
Clintons and the fictional Barrishes!
Sassy done right, every Sunday at 10 p.m.,
or catch the series from the beginning at
